Response to ONS data on employee workplace pensions
New data from the ONS reveals increases in employees' pensions saving.
Emily Andrews says employers need to find ways to support people to prepare for their later life that cover their health and future careers, as well as financial security.
Emily Andrews, Senior Evidence Manager, Centre for Ageing Better, said:
“It’s great that pension saving is increasing, mainly because of the increase in auto-enrolment minimum contributions.
“But more needs to be done. People will need to save even more in private or workplace pensions, and not rely on the state pension alone.
“Employers need to find ways to support people to prepare for their later life, including ‘mid-life MOTs’ which also address health as well as future careers.”
