"I am delighted to be sharing the Centre for Ageing Better Strategy for 2026-2031. This document gives you a concise picture of what we are planning to achieve over the coming years. If you have been engaged with us previously, our ambitions should not come as a surprise to you.
"What you will see is increased focus and determination to address the challenges and realise the opportunities of our ageing population and to identify develop and encourage the adoption of age-friendly policy and practice. We will be building on the extensive work that we have completed to date which has provided a robust body of evidence, powerful and extensive networks, an extensive range of tools and resources and considerable influence at central, regional and local levels.
"Within the strategy our work falls within four themes:
- A Centre of Excellence on Ageing – which will encompass our seminal State of Ageing report and all our research, tools and materials and our advisory functions. This Centre is a key resource for everyone working in the field and for national and local decision makers.
- Ensuring fair access to decent work in our 50s and 60s.
- Developing age-friendly homes and communities.
- Tackling ageism and the impact of other forms of discrimination in later life.
We cannot realise our ambitions on our own so we very much appreciate your engagement and support for our projects and campaigns and hope you will continue to support our work over the coming years."
