Age‑friendly Leeds Steering Group

Older people with lived experience should be central to shaping the plans and delivery of age‑friendly communities. 

Yet, opportunities to influence local decision-making are often limited, especially for those who are digitally excluded, and external organisations can struggle to meaningfully engage with older residents. This video case study explores how Age‑friendly Leeds has addressed this through its Age-friendly Steering Group, bringing together older people from diverse backgrounds to play a leading role in the programme. 

By embedding older voices in policy and practice across the council, and through partnerships with organisations such as National Rail, the Steering Group ensures decisions reflect the real experiences and priorities of older people.
