This toolkit brings together guidance, case studies and templates to make it easier for local places to meaningfully involve older residents in decisions affecting their lives.
One of the keys to good policymaking is centring the voice of lived experience. Age-friendly communities are only successful when they amplify the voices of those seldom heard and use this to transform places and services.
Our toolkit provides guidance on the key stages of any successful engagement process with older people. It can be read as whole document or individual chapters including:
- Setting your purpose
- Planning your engagement
- Facilitation
- Embedding engagement across your organisation
- Closing the loop, learning and evaluating
The toolkit also includes links to download nine Word document tools to support tasks such as workshop planning, writing governance documents, remuneration, and evaluating the impact of your engagement.
Whether you are a council keen to engage residents on a particular time-limited project – or another statutory or VCSE organisation looking to set up a new engagement mechanism for older people – our toolkit will help you understand and overcome the barriers to successful engagement with older people.
Age-friendly Engagement Toolkit Training
We are delighted to announce that following the publication of our Age-friendly Engagement Toolkit we are continuing our work with Involve Foundation and will be offering 30 places on a training course to support the adoption of the toolkit's guidance. The training will comprise one full-day training session in London on 19th November, with three follow-up online coaching sessions in November, January and February.
