Prior to her current role, Nuzhat has led national health improvement portfolio's including Ageing Well, with the Department of Health and Social care and Department for Work and Pensions.
Nuzhat began her career in the NHS 30 years ago as a front-line clinician. She has since worked across various health sector settings locally, regionally, nationally and internationally, in leadership roles, and also in academia.
She is passionate about reducing inequalities, and that ‘inclusion’ and intersectionality are golden threads that are woven throughout her work. She was awarded the inaugural Civil Service Championing Faith and Belief Award and has been acknowledged for her extensive work on EDI.
Nuzhat is Chair and Founder of a London-based minority women’s voluntary group, which aims to engage and connect with ‘seldom heard’ local minority women to encourage participation in civic activity and develop resilience.
