Karen works to ensure that Work programmes are grounded in evidence.

Karen works to ensure that the Centre for Ageing Better’s policy and communications in the Work action area are grounded in the most reliable and defensible evidence possible.

She will be ensuring that statistics and briefing on the labour market for older workers are up-to-date and trustworthy and will be authoring the Work chapter in the State of Ageing report. Karen has just (April 2023) completed a multi-disciplinary, multi-methods PhD on older peoples’ eudaimonic wellbeing at Loughborough University as a part-time student. Prior to that, Karen enjoyed a 40-year career as an economist working on public policy issues in academia, consultancy, government and the charity sectors.

Karen joined Ageing Better in May 2023.
