Transform Ageing: supporting the needs of ageing communities
Read the announcement of our work with the Design Council to support a new Big Lottery funded initiative in partnership.
As a key part of Transform Ageing’s National Knowledge and Learning Network the Centre for Ageing Better will be supporting the programme to learn from what works and share innovative approaches and solutions through our networks.
Transform Ageing is a new, cross-sector partnership bringing together people in later life, social entrepreneurs and health and social care leaders to define, develop and deliver new, people-centred solutions that better support the needs and aspirations of our ageing communities.
Initially, the programme will bring together people in later life as well as their friends and families, leaders in health and social care and social entrepreneurs in South West England to explore the challenges that these communities feel ageing creates.
Through a design-led process, using Design Council’s ‘Framework for Innovation’, the programme will gather insight and collectively shape innovation briefs for social entrepreneurs to provide innovative product and service solutions to the identified challenges.

Anna Dixon, Chief Executive at the Centre for Ageing Better said: “We are very pleased to be working in partnership with the Design Council alongside UnLtd and the South West Academic Health Science Network. Transform Ageing offers an exciting opportunity to redesign the experience of later life by working across sectors and boundaries and taking a person centred approach. We look forward to sharing innovative ideas, developing evidence on what works and spreading that knowledge more widely to help as many people as possible enjoy a good later life.”
