Design Council has received £3.65 million from The National Lottery Community Fund to launch the pioneering initiative in the South West of England.
The programme will work with people in later life to collectively define the care or prevention support they want. It will bring them together with social innovators and commissioners of health and care services to develop and deliver new responses that meet these aspirations. Ageing Better will work alongside the programme to help share learning and evidence of what works.
Dan Jones, Director of Innovation and Change at the Centre for Ageing Better, said:
“This programme starts with people in later life defining the topics that matter to them and the outcomes they want. Ageing Better will bring together evidence about what works on these topics, to ensure that the solutions developed are as effective as possible. As new solutions are created, we will share what we learn from the programme and encourage others to adopt the most effective innovations.
“We are very pleased to be working with Design Council, UnLtd and the South West Academic Health Science Network on this exciting new initiative.”
The programme is due to launch by the autumn. More details will be announced on Ageing Better’s website.
