John's roles have included over a decade as Corporate Affairs Director at Legal & General Group and serving as Head of the Policy Unit at Number Ten Downing St where he advised the then Prime Minister on a broad range of domestic policy issues, including on housing, pensions and the implications of the ageing demographic.

From 2020-23 he was the founding Chairman of the Community Interest Company, “Business for Health”, and during that period was also instrumental in setting up Edinburgh University’s Advanced Care Research Centre, a cross-disciplinary body funded by £20m from Legal & General to research future models for social care.

John is currently Executive Director for Housing, Regeneration and Property at the West Midlands Combined Authority.
