Flexible working from day 1 essential to supporting older workers
As the government consultation on proposals to reform flexible working regulations ends, we look at the case for supporting older workers’ desire for better, flexible jobs.
Many people want or need to continue working as they get older but can face barriers in doing so.
A third of the workforce in England are aged 50 or over, nearly 9 million workers. But not all employers are offering what’s needed to retain older workers, or recognising the importance of recruiting them.
We are working with the government and employers to create the right conditions for more people over 50 to be in fulfilling work. We have developed a range of resources including a five-point guide to help employers create age-friendly workplaces.
Find out what we’re doing to support people back into work and to eliminate age bias in recruitment.
