Age-friendly transport for Greater Manchester
Dr Charles Musselwhite sets out recommendations for transportation and mobility change for older people in Greater Manchester.
As people age, there's a decline in driving – with older people relying much more on walking and using public buses. But issues such as poor-quality pavements and poor bus services create a set of challenges for people in later life.
This report, authored by Dr Charles Musselwhite, reviews the Greater Manchester Transport Strategy 2040 and generates recommendations in policy and practice relating to transportation and mobility for older demographics in the Greater Manchester area.
The project was funded by Transport for Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester Ageing Hub at Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Centre for Ageing Better with support from Ambition for Ageing at GMCVO.
