Later life in 2015: Methodology report
Our methodology approach taken in the Later Life in 2015 study is outlined, with information on case studies, interviews and surveys.
The Centre for Ageing Better commissioned Ipsos MORI to investigate happiness in later life and identify the factors that make for a good later life. A mixed methods approach was used, involving analysis of existing data to identify groups of people with similar experiences of later life, in-depth interviews and visits with people in each group, and a survey of people aged 50 and over in England.
The complexity of the questions necessitated a multi-stage approach, grounded in the experiences of older people themselves. The approach taken was underpinned by initial scoping work that Ageing Better had already undertaken to look at evidence relating to the factors that influence wellbeing in later life.
